Rock`n around the Christmas tree or cultural changes in traditions and habits
Christmas Charity in Denmark – Arr. Kurt Lykke Lindved
Our usual traditions towards Christmas will soon be a part of our daily life – The time of either stress in business life or a month of evening relaxations, family traditions and memories from the past.
During the past weeks I have been able to speak with several people from other countries about our traditions and habits during the Christmas time and it seems to me, that many have changed own imaginations about this period, where a greater part of the population on earth used to run around like a hectic tornado just to finalize a lot of preparations for Christmas. I have never been able to understand how the “gift” race could be that big as we have seen it many places in the past – the financial situation today might of course force many to be more creative by own means trying to find a balance in this very exited period repeated again and again each year.
Needless to say that everyone celebrating the Christmas would like to celebrate the days in peace and harmony. This is indeed possible, but also a challenge to everyone who might be in a position to determine own possibilities despite the financial situation. Donations to the poor, sick, homeless and many more will always be a part of the traditions and habits during the Christmas time and whilst we are searching for peace and harmony in the world it would indeed be so great if those people in need could be given at least a Christmas full of light, joy and hope for the future to come. I will, therefore take the opportunity to ask everyone in a position to afford it – Think about those who really suffer and even dies from hunger – Those humans on earth were born with the same senses as all other people, but many was never given the opportunity to use it equal to the privileged population.
I feel privileged insofar I was lucky to be born in a country with a kind of high welfare, freedom and educational possibilities and I have been even more privileged living and travelling in many different countries around the globe – a witness and experience of too many differences in the social status where people are considered as trash without any possibility to make a step forward by own means.
The Christmas time is so to say a mixture of many emotional feelings and I find it quite in order having at least a moment each year to look somewhat backwards whilst preparations are made for the time to come and not only the Christmas celebrations but the entire future to the world.
The time is also dedicated to many of our lyrics and songs made especially for this season and everyone will have the choice to find their own and beloved lyrics and songs either in public Christmas arrangements or privately performed amongst families and friends.
If a may have a wish for a “gift” it should be a new and bright period where anything in the cultural fields may be uplifted financially, spiritually and a more professional attitude towards good and bad culture.
