The Christmas preparations are normally a matter of good traditions and in many cases connected with the different habits used and implemented in our many cultures of origin – a period where lots of people around the world are enjoying the traditions of Christmas celebrations and with a huge impact of communication possibilities. It was certainly not the case thousand years ago.
The world is however in a continuous progress towards future aspects in climate changes, peace and developments worldwide or regionally. I have been privileged sitting at the ringside during the climate conference in Copenhagen and latest by the peace price arrangement in Oslo where President Obama received The Nobel Peace Prize.
Needless is it to say that those actions are important to all for the future and of course for generations to continue a life in a world of clean air, dignity and peace. The opening ceremony was attended by 15.000 delegates from the whole world and interesting was it to follow reactions by the delegates having lots of different vies and attitudes towards a change of climate conditions in the world. I do not know if I am completely wrong, but whenever some of the delegates arrived Copenhagen with a defense attitude towards nearly everything it was obvious to me how difficult it is to unite a whole world of different opinions and cultures. The differences are so visible that anyone close to the cold facts can imagine how complicated it is in our today`s world to unite people in constructive work for anything that concerns a bright future for the human race and the nature as well.
I find however, that down to earth and people with only a minor knowledge to status on earth, but lots of frustrations did isolate themselves in a continuing process for solutions where compromises are needed for further developments and progress towards our common goals. In a democratic process it is of course essential that all parties are heard and even negative expressions and thoughts can be turned around into constructive ways of a continuing dialog and we have seen it quite clearly during the past days how fast it may turn 360 grades either in negative or positive directions.
The 15.000 participants to the climate conference are indeed a very mixed delegation with scientists. lobbyists, politicians, grass root organizations, public and UN officers – a cocktail of many opinions and views that can explode anytime by a wrong word or sentence and even misunderstandings may be a cause to keep eventual decisions way out of proportions and affect the final results.
The road to a better world seems to be long and my own imagination of climate improvements and peace on earth is limited to a step-by-step improvement and hopefully much more for the next generations to come even though they seem to have a lot to clean-up from the present generation living in an exited time on the edge to either self destruction or progress for our own future left to act and work together for improvements in all aspects for our health and possibilities to enjoy that life we were given from birth.
The cultural work across the borders is a very important tool to build those bridges necessary for mutual understanding and anyone interested or working in this field may do a lot in this kind of progress towards a unity, which in the first case must be “How do we communicate and understand each other” and “How do we learn to acknowledge and respect other ideologies and habits” – It is indeed one of the most difficult trials to anyone working for peace and new ways to unite a world with so many different attitudes in politics. lifestyles and religions ,,,, and who said is necessary to change our different cultures as long as we could understand and learn to accept the born genes of our own and others.
President Obama made a really good speech during the ceremony of The Nobel Peace Prize with facts about what is achieved until now and visions for the future. We have lots of visions each day in our daily life, but important is it to realize whatever might be positive and a development towards the goals of happiness in life. Unfortunately we have seen persons in this world with pure obstruction thoughts and actions which might be reflected in any kind of realization in visions and words. The human race is a complicated “building” of many different emotional feelings and imaginations of fears, happiness, sorrows and angriness which is reflected to the surroundings and in many cases influenced in our senses of own opinions and views on various important topics.
And whilst the 15.000 delegates in Copenhagen “walk their talk” it is important to all of us, that our own little universe may work in progress of developments whether the subject is culture, technology or financial aspects but it should not be that difficult to include just a moment of thoughts or work towards the bridge buildings uniting ourselves with other and different cultures. Basically we should be born with equal rights and opportunities to live a life in dignity and respect without any kind of terror, war, hunger or destructive actions against others.
The moment has come to act more than talk and the positive impressions from the climate conference are indeed the fact, that many seems to realize this important issue as a matter of urgently required tool for the human race to survive and save whatever we can of nature on earth.
I wish you all a wonderful time and you are of course more than welcome to comment on this newsletter with your opinions and views.
